Good Robot Brewing, the Centre for Islamic Development and Ihsan Academy wish to release the following joint statement:
Much has been said and written over the past week concerning our ability to operate beside one another. We never sought the public attention and tone that emerged in a matter that should have been a private and respectful discussion between neighbours.
We were able to meet this past weekend for a lengthy and constructive chat. As a result, we were able to reach a number of common understandings and agreements about how to address the Centre’s concerns and improve our relationship with each other.
The Centre confirmed that its intent is not to shut down Good Robot, but rather to exist harmoniously together, provided reasonable concerns can be addressed with reasonable measures. Likewise, Good Robot denounces any ill-will that has been directed towards the Centre in public forums and welcomes an opportunity to work in a respectful and co-operative manner with the Centre and its representatives.
In this spirit, we were able to collectively develop a list of steps that will be taken to improve the relationship and plan to reconvene regularly to ensure our mutual goals are being met. We look forward to strengthening our future as good neighbours.
The meeting was also a priceless opportunity to learn about each other’s backgrounds and careers, both as representatives of our respective organizations, and as private citizens.
We ask that we be allowed to follow the path we have set out for ourselves in private, without odious public commentary and/or sensationalistic reporting.
A big thanks to all those who expressed their best wishes for a common solution.
