Halifax Transit is suspending service on dozens of buses on Thursday because of what it called a "potential mechanical issue."

Earlier on Thursday, a wheel came off a Halifax Transit bus while it was in service, according to a news release from the Halifax Regional Municipality.

"The investigation of the incident found that this was due to faulty equipment used to torque the wheels," the news release said.
