A search is underway for a missing snowmobiler in the Cape Breton Highlands, but high winds and blowing snow are complicating rescue efforts. 

Paul Service, a spokesperson for the RCMP, said the search began early Saturday near Oregon in Victoria County. 

Police are being assisted by ground search and rescue services and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, but the weather is making things difficult. 

A helicopter is on standby, but waiting until conditions improve to go into the area.
