The victim of a fatal shooting in Halifax yesterday has been identified as Uriah Lemar Black, 38.

On Thursday, February 20 at approximately 6:20 a.m., police responded to a report of an injured man on McFatridge Road in Halifax. At the scene, officers located Black on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and confirmed the manner of death to be homicide.

The investigation remains ongoing, but police do not believe this was a random event.
