SiRT Concludes Investigation into Serious Injury Sustained During an Arrest in Halifax

The Director of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) found no reasonable grounds to believe Halifax Regional Police (HRP) officers acted with excessive force during an arrest in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

On January 5, 2025, HRP were investigating an incident involving and adult male who was in violation of a court imposed no contact order. At the time, the male was standing trial for several serious criminal charges related to the individual he was not permitted to contact or be around. It was believed that the male was at the residence of the person he was not to be in contact with, at which time members of HRP responded immediately and located the male in the residence.
