The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that weekly green cart collection will begin Monday, July 21 and continue until Friday, September 12 in all communities across the municipality.

In past years, this enhanced service has run from July through September. During the 2025-26 budget process, Regional Council approved a shortened summer collection period.

Residents are asked to place materials curbside prior to 7 a.m. on collection day to guarantee pickup, ensuring items are contained and secured from wildlife. To find your collection schedule, visit
