The bassist Stephen Bruner has music in his blood. His father, Ronald Sr., is a jazz drummer who’s backed up Diana Ross, Gladys Knight and the Temptations. His brother, Ronald Jr., is also a drummer and has played in the bands of Roy Hargrove, Stanley Clarke, and Wayne Shorter. (Both Bruner brothers shared an unlikely seeming stint in the punk band Suicidal Tendencies when they were teenagers.)
